Lotto Sport Italia S.p.A. closed 2006 with revenues of 277 million ($348.0 mm), an 8% increase over 2005. The last year was one of change for the company following investments in the product R&D sector, in sales development and in acquisitions.
Italy, which accounted for 25% of the companys sales, grew 7% for the year. Europe as a whole accounted for 43% of sales; America accounted for 11%; Asia Pacific for 15%; and Africa 6%. Sales in Western Europe grew in each country, with The Netherlands leading the growth with a 61% increase. France was up 7%, Germany grew 9%, Belgium rose 4% and Great Britain sales jumped 19% for the year. Eastern Europe also saw strong results while Central/South America grew 8%. In Asia, Lotto recorded a 7% improvement.
Growth was spread across all category types offered by Lotto, where footwear accounts for 43% of overall sales, clothing for 51% and accessories for 6%. Football (soccer), five-a-side football, tennis and running together total 55% (5% growth) with leisure accounting for the remaining 45% (11% growth).
