Hibbett Sports on Friday pledged support to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT) by collecting donations in 146 stores throughout Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky for the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.

The emergency fund has been activated to help dozens of victims of Tuesday’s devastating tornadoes, which to date have killed more than 20 people and left more than 70 people still unaccounted for.

Beginning Friday, Hibbett Sports stores throughout Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky are now accepting donations for the CMFT Middle Tennessee Emergency Response fund until March 31, 2020. No purchase is necessary to make a donation at one of the 146 participating Hibbett Sports stores and customers can simply let a team member know how much they would like to donate at the cash register. CFMT donations are tax-deductible.

“Our hearts go out to these communities that have been affected by the loss of life and devastation from Tuesday’s storms,” said Michael Longo, president and CEO, Hibbett. “We have partnered with The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to lend support and do what we can to contribute to those with critical needs at this difficult time.”

“We know when disasters strike, there are no quick fixes,” said Ellen Lehman, president of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. “We’re grateful for the support of Hibbett Sports in this critical time. Thanks to their efforts, we can better respond and restore damage caused by these disastrous storms through the work of nonprofits on the ground helping victims and addressing their needs.”
