Cabela's Incorporated hopes to bring one of its famous Cabela's retail stores to northern Idaho. Cabela's projects the approximately 125,000-square-foot retail showroom could be completed as early as fall of 2007. The Post Falls store would be Cabela's second in Idaho. Cabela's opened a retail store in Boise, their first in Idaho, in August of this year.
“We are very close to finalizing negotiations on this new store in Post Falls,” said Dennis Highby, Cabela's President and Chief Executive Officer. “Idaho has been a great supporter of Cabela's for many years through our catalogs and Internet site as well as our new Boise store, and we look forward to bringing the impressive Cabela's retail store experience to the hundreds of thousands of outdoorsmen and women in northern Idaho and the surrounding the region who, like us, are passionate about the outdoors.”
“Cabela's will be the showcase anchor for the premier retail shopping center we are planning along the I-90 corridor between Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, and Spokane, Washington,” said Jeff Vitek, president of Foursquare Properties, Inc. “This development could not have been possible without the vision, inspiration and hard work of the Cabela's management team. Foursquare is honored to have been designated as one of Cabela's preferred developers for the Western United States.”
The new retail store would be part of The Pointe at Post Falls, an 800,000-square-foot-shopping center located at Exit 299 off Interstate 90 and East Appleway Ave. near the Washington/Idaho State line.
“I know there will be thousands of outdoor sports enthusiasts, including myself, who will be chomping at the bit for the grand opening next fall,” said Clay Larkin, Mayor of Post Falls. Larkin added that Cabela's customers will travel from nearby states including Washington and Montana, and even Canada, for the experience of shopping at Cabela's.
Cabela's expects to employ as many as 250 people from the surrounding area.
“Cabela's decision to locate a regional store in Post Falls further strengthens our economic future and recognizes the importance of our region,” said Jim Hammond, the former Post Falls city manager who has been involved with the project since its inception. “Cabela's will anchor a major retail center, bringing jobs and economic development to Post Falls. We look forward to making them a part of our retail community.”
Cabela's currently operates 18 retail locations. In 2006, the company has opened retail stores in Glendale, Ariz.; Boise, Idaho; Richfield, Wis., and La Vista, Neb. Cabela's has announced plans to open additional stores in East Hartford, Conn.; Hammond, Ind.; Hoffman Estates, Ill.; Gonzales, La.; Hazelwood, Mo.; Reno, Nev.; East Rutherford, N.J.; Adairsville, Ga.; Montreal, Quebec; and Wheat Ridge, Colo.
