According to OIA’s trade firm, Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, the quota on man-made fiber pants manufactured in Vietnam is filling rapidly, and is likely to turn into an embargo around the end of October. Last year, the Outdoor and SnowSports industry faced a similar problem with this same category coming out of China. In response to the quotas and embargoes placed on China-manufactured goods, many companies shifted their production to factories in Vietnam.

In addition, Vietnam is expected to become a member of the World Trade Organization in November, and according to OIA, once this happens, all quotas and embargoes should end. However, negotiations with the WTO are still on-going and the outcome is uncertain.
