Nike’s “Dream Crazier” campaign out of Wieden + Kennedy and directed by Kim Gehrig of Somesuch was honored for Advertising Excellence/Single Commercial at the AICP Show, held by the Association of Independent Commercial Producers.
The spot stars Serena Williams and ccelebrates the achievements of women in sports by noting the challenges they face in acceptance, recognition and respect. The campaign also won the first-ever AICP Community Award, decided from among the Advertising Excellence/Single Commercial Shortlist by the viewing public.
The AICP also named Nike its inaugural Marketer of the Year winner for its “significant impact” on the industry in bringing together collaborative teams to create expertly crafted and inspirational marketing communications.
The other major winner at the event was The New York Times’ “The Truth Is Worth It” effort, which illustrates the hard work and perseverance behind reporters’ scoops. The spot was honored for Advertising Excellence/Campaign.
The AICP Show, held by the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, honors the best in advertising across 22 categories, focusing largely on production craft excellence. Winners become a permanent collection of the Department of Film at MOMA.
The awards were presented June 6 at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.
