Adding firepower to its operations and marketing teams, Garmont International expands its global executive team. Over the last several months, Garmont has added new management based in the Vedelago, Italy global headquarters. By design, these appointments will add strength and expanded capabilities with a focus on accelerating growth in the North American market.
Michele Battocchio was named Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the Fall of 2018 and has quickly built out a talented team. As COO, Battocchio manages the global operations of the outdoor and tactical channels, both very competitive spaces. Michele is focused on product, market needs and distribution. His immediate influence can be seen in the new Spring/Summer 2020 collection launched to the trade this month.
Commented Battocchio, “In my previous work leading international sporting goods companies, I have learned that success is the result of the ability to analyze, listen and then identify a Brand’s future prospects. In this way, we can expand the brand’s reputation with compelling solutions for the present and future needs of the evolving outdoor consumer.”
Battocchio’s first move was to reinforce marketing by appointing Mauro Baldini as Global Marketing and Communications Manager. Baldini comes to Garmont after serving as the Global Communications Manager for Northwave, an Italian cycling shoe and apparel brand. Baldino is skilled at managing product launches and brings with him expertise in digital marketing and website development. His initial focus is on building a strong communication plan that will clearly define the brand’s personality and increased visibility, expanding the base of Garmont enthusiasts.
Davide Calcagnotto joins the team as Global Supply Chain Manager. In this role, he will ensure efficient and responsible operations management. Prior to Garmont, Davide led supply chain modernization for the multi-national consumer goods company – Nice. He is currently creating a distribution hub in North America for Garmont’s outdoor and tactical divisions merging facilities and focusing on speed, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. These changes will increase flexibility and opportunities for retailers and consumers. Davide will also lead Garmont’s efforts in global supply chain sustainability.
Not the last of the changes, Battocchio has also bolstered the company’s historic focus on quality, adding new in-country management at the manufacturing plant in Vietnam.
Bill Dodge, CEO of Garmont North America stated; “This new team has already made five trips to North America and is working quickly to amplify the business here in the U.S. and Canada. They have listened closely to the feedback from our team, retailers and consumers and clearly see the opportunities. Already we have completed the move to our new distribution hub and are launching an exciting new line for Spring/Summer 2020, which includes an all-new hiking collection featuring a new last shape perfect for this market. And they are just getting started.”
