Academy Sports + Outdoors announced plans to open five stores. The stores will open in Georgetown, TX; Buford, GA; Gastonia and Mooresville NC; and Ardmore, OK.
Each stores will add approximately 60 new jobs to those areas.
The store in Georgetown will be located near I-35 and TX-29.
“As a Texas-based company, Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to offer our loyal Central Texas customers a new location to serve their sports, outdoor, and recreation lifestyle needs,” said Johnson. “With a history of serving Texan customers for over 80 years, we are excited to provide fun for all through strong assortments, value, and experience.
The Buford store is in the Metro Atlanta region.
“Academy Sports + Outdoors and Buford are a perfect match, and we cannot wait to open this new, convenient location,” said Johnson. “Whether you’re heading to Lake Lanier for a fishing trip, gearing up for your next hunt, or getting ready for the next sports season, Academy has all the products you need for less.”
The stores in Gastonia and Mooresville will mark Academy’s 14th and 15th North Carolina locations.

The store in Ardmore will mark Academy’s 13th Oklahoma location.

Academy Sports has more than 250 locations.
