Puma signed Kevin Knox, the New York Knicks forward selected ninth in the 2018 NBA Draft.
On Tuesday, Knox posted a photo on Instagram of himself wearing a Puma t-shirt with the caption, “A new beginning to something GREAT.”
According to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, Knox will now be lacing up the Puma Clyde Court, a sneaker that was debuted 45 years ago by Knicks legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier, as part of his multi-year deal with the resurgent brand.
In June, Puma announced plans to re-enter the performance basketball business after nearly a 20-year absence. A number of NBA rookies have been signed, including number one overall draft pick DeAndre Ayton as well as Marvin Bagley, Zhaire Smith and Michael Porter Jr. Other NBA players becoming Puma ambassadors include Rudy Gay and Terry Rozier. Rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z has been appointed as the creative director of Puma’s basketball operations.
