Timbuk2 Designs received 27th place in the Top 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times. This award comes two weeks after the company’s acquisition by private equity firm VMG Equity Partners.

“Timbuk2 is proud to be included in this prestigious ranking within the San Francisco Bay Area business community,” said Mark Dwight, CEO of Timbuk2. “It's a tribute to the collective efforts of our team and the support of our customers. San Francisco is our home and our inspiration, and we're pleased to be recognized for our contribution to the local economy.”

The 15th annual ranking of Fastest-Growing Private Companies compiled by the San Francisco Business Times included companies ranging in size from one employee to nearly 3,000. The list was ranked by percentage of revenue growth from 2002 to 2004. Timbuk2 has experienced 158% revenue growth from 2002-2004, with sales rising from $3.9 million to $10.1 million in that period. The rankings are the result of a survey of more than 2,000 Bay Area companies in businesses from high tech to no-tech and from hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue to hundreds of millions.

“We are very proud of our San Francisco heritage,” said Dwight. “San Francisco is our home and the inspiration for our brand.” Though the Company also manufactures products in China, Dwight says he is committed to maintaining the San Francisco manufacturing presence. “Our San Francisco factory is a novelty in the current age of outsourcing and offshoring – but we have carved-out a special niche making high-quality custom bags.”
