Advanstar Communications has acquired POOL, a boutique lifestyle trade show showcasing fashion-forward designers, accessories and music that targets the directional boutique market. Launched in 2001 with 205 exhibitors, POOL quickly found success and has grown to a 105,000 net square foot show with 500 exhibitors that is held twice annually in Las Vegas.
Joe Loggia, President and Chief Executive Officer of Advanstar Communications said, “The acquisition of POOL allows us to build upon our market leading position in the Fashion industry to better serve the needs of emerging companies and retailers searching for boutique oriented products. POOL's position in the contemporary street market gives MAGIC another opportunity to compliment our contemporary streetwear categories, including the High 5 Campground, while providing retailers a more convenient shopping experience.”
POOL will be operated in coordination with the MAGIC Marketplace so that customers can fully experience the benefits of both shows, while simultaneously providing the unique benefits that have made each show successful. With the addition of POOL, retailers will have a more complete view of the entire market, while show exhibitors will benefit from the addition of even more retailers interested in the whole array of categories.
Ronda Walker, President of POOL commented that, “By joining MAGIC, we will be able to take POOL to the next level by leveraging the expertise and resources of the much larger show while still keeping the elements that have made POOL valuable to our customers.”
Ronda Walker will still oversee POOL to ensure that the show's vision, atmosphere, and attention to presenting the market's best designers to its top retailers remain consistent. The POOL group will continue to be based in Los Angeles, with its staff unchanged. Ronda Walker will report directly to Mr. Loggia.
