On Saturday, March 5, Tubbs Snowshoes and the Denver Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation held their second annual Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series at the Frisco Nordic Center. The event raised over $40,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and its local Affiliates, to benefit breast cancer research, education and screening.
The annual event consists of both a snowshoe fun run as well as an easy snowshoe walk, and raises money from the participants pledges as well as direct donations. All the money raised through the event will be given to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and its local Affiliates, to benefit breast cancer research, education and screening.
The event had an impressive turnout of more than 1,365 participants. It was a beautiful sunny day and the snow conditions were ideal for snowshoeing. In between snowshoeing participants enjoyed a pancake breakfast that was sponsored by Wells Fargo, and live entertainment by local institution Nancy Cook.
“This community deserves to be recognized for their continued support of Susan G. Komen and the Romp to Stomp,” said Paul Adams, Marketing Program Coordinator for Tubbs. “Summit County and the Front Range are unique and active communities, and we really do value their support. Everyone from the organizing committee, to the Town of Frisco, to all of the volunteers have done a great job and I am proud of our results.”
Winners of the Fun Run were Patti Burnett, Female Master, with a time of 21:30; Stephanie Kremar, Female Open, with a time of 23:19; Pete Nang, Male Master, with a time of 19:01 and Charles Nowacki, Mens Open, with a time of 16:59.
“I think one of our volunteers summed it up best when he said that weve reached critical mass,” said Adams. “The levels of awareness regarding health and recreation, and a willingness to give, have made this community a perfect setting for the event. Its so inspiring to see so many people come snowshoeing to benefit such a great cause.”
Tubbs would like to express their thanks to our national sponsors Columbia Sportswear and Green Mountain Coffee, as well as local sponsors EMS, Wells Fargo, St. Anthony Summit Medical Center, Mychelle Dermaceuticals, Slifer, Smith, and Frampton Real Estate, Frisco Nordic Center, Town of Frisco and MIX 100 for their support.
