Atlanta-based sporting goods company seeks a Business Unit Manager to assume overall accountability for its Diamond Sports (baseball/softball) Apparel business. Incumbent will be responsible for product line development/management and the creation and execution of marketing and promotional programs required to attain stated sales, share and financial goals.

Representative Duties:

  • Monitor marketplace and consumer trends on an ongoing basis

  • Develop and execute product and promotional marketing/selling plans for assigned product lines.

  • Manage the buying of finished goods inventory consistent with customer/consumer demand. Participate in monthly Sales and Operations Planning process to ensure maintenance of appropriate inventory and turns levels.

  • Work with sales and account management to develop customer-specific product and promotional programs on an as-needed basis.

  • Ongoing communication with sales reps, buyers, in-house departments, factories and appropriate others on all matters specific to apparel product line.

  • Travel to/participate in events, account calls, and tradeshows as appropriate

  • Continually monitor revenues, expenses and overall profitability, making adjustments where necessary to ensure attainment of annual forecasts, budgets and profitability goals.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have a college degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of previous product management experience (apparel product management preferred, with team sports experience a definite plus). Requires experience with basic financial/accounting principles (profitability, margins, inventory, turns, etc.), proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and familiarity with ERP systems (JDE). Position involves up to 40 percent travel, some overseas.
