AKU introduces the Edge GTX and the Flow GTX for 05/06.
The Edge GTX is crampon compatible and built for use in mixed climbing terrain and heavy backpacking. The Edge GTX features a unique neoprene/EVA outsole for superior comfort and fit.
Features of the Edge GTX include a Perwanger leather upper with Gore-Tex lining and a ballistic nylon upper cuff for superior durability. The upper is quickly closed with a “toe to ankle” speed lace system and the forefoot is protected with a full rubber rand. The boot features a Vibram Mulaz outsole that has been enhanced with an injected molded heel plate to insure proper retention of crampons.
The midsole is composed of lightweight micro porous neoprene and EVA. The Edge GTX is lasted around a HR (hard flex) anatomical mounting board of nylon topped with AKU’s IMS system, a moldable EVA, to insure proper flex and retention of the form of the upper materials.
Aku is also introducing the Flow Hi GTX., a 10″ high boot designed for snowy winter pursuits such as snowshoeing and winter hikes. A lightweight breathable upper comprised of AKU’s patented AIR 8000/GTX and Duratherm insulation insures a dry, warm foot. The upper is attached to the Vibram Trail Trek outsole via AKU’s proprietary Injection Lasting process and AKU’s IMS underfoot comfort system.
