Decathlon, the French sporting goods giant, is opening a store on 735 Market Street in San Francisco, marking its return to U.S. retailing.
According to a report from Hoodline, the store was a former location of Golfsmith’s Golf & Tennis.
The pending opening was also confirmed on Decathlon USA’s Facebook page.
On its website, Decathlon also said it will be “rolling out our online sales in California soon.”
Decathlon entered the U.S. market when it bought the assets of the former MVP Sports Stores in 1999. It exited the region when it closed its last four stores, all of which are in Massachusetts, in 2006.
Globally, the retailer has 1,176 locations, according to its website. Its biggest markets are France, with 301 stores; China, 214; Spain, 149; and Italy, 113.
