Outdoor Sports Marketing (OSM), a sales, marketing and training agency for the outdoor industry, opened a 5,000-square-foot showroom on June 1 in Greenville, SC.
The agency moved from its original space in Hendersonville, NC, where they were previously located since 2007, in February of this year.
“Our new home is a significant investment and resource for our brands and customers. We want to present the brands we work with the way our vendor partners envision them. We also want to inspire our retailers when they come visit while insuring their experience is second to none,” said owner Rion Smith. “We know at retail, now more than ever before, to get customers in the door the visual has to be spot on and the experience has to engage.”
The new location is at 123 Wellborn St, in Greenville’s West Side. Previously home to a train line service warehouse in 1948, the space features industrial, contemporary touches with reclaimed metal and wood. The location is in the middle of the planned Greenville West Side City Park, on the Reedy River and Swamp Rabbit Trail.
“You usually only see outdoor brands in tiny spaces at trade shows or out of the back of a car but this space really highlights and showcases the products,” said Jaia McClure, buyer at Little River Trading Co. “It’s almost like you can see more features because there’s room to breathe and to interact with the gear. You get to touch and feel and play with the things, which is really how they’re meant to be experienced.”
OSM celebrated the grand opening on Wednesday, June 21 with vendors, retailers and other outdoor professionals joining together in the new space for a one-night launch party.
“Being invested in downtown Greenville, specifically the Commons development in the new park, is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Smith. “We want not only our team to have ready access to the outdoors but to support our neighbors in getting outside. And we can start by working to clean up the environment we call home.”
The new space includes multiple sections, each dedicated to the brands they represent, including Cascade Designs, Chaco, Osprey, Smartwool, The Landmark Project and Vasque. The space is designed for vendors to effectively display their products as well as allow brand representatives to be able to entertain and effectively plan customer experience in a space for great storytelling and few distractions.
