8fit, a health and fitness app, announced a total of $10 million in funding with the closing of a Series A round led by Creandum and Eight Roads Ventures.

Launched in 2014 by entrepreneurs Pablo Villalba and Pedro Solá, 8fit makes healthy living simple by providing tailored guidance, including workouts and meal plans, in an easy-to-use app. The company has already helped more than 10 million people achieve their personal fitness goals with customized plans that adapt to their lifestyle, preferences and goals, with more than 50 percent of those people based in the U.S.

“There’s no one-size-fits all way to find lifelong fitness, so we’re focused on building a truly tailored experience that empowers people to get started on their fitness journey and stick with it,” said Villalba, CEO. “With the Series A, we’re bolstering our team to support our rapid international user growth and keeping our eyes on the ultimate goal of helping as many people as possible live healthier, happier lives.”

Countless studies show that exercise on its own provides incredible benefits, but it isn’t as powerful for lifelong health as when paired with proper nutrition. 8fit combines High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and yoga workouts designed to be done anywhere, anytime, with wholesome, nutritious meal plans based on real food, customized by food group or specific ingredients. The customized plans are tailored to an individual’s current fitness level and goals, whether that goal is weight loss, muscle gain, improved endurance, or simply more confidence.

Staffan Helgesson, general partner at Creandum, added, “Digital Health is a prioritized area for Creandum, and 8fit is one of the most exciting companies we have come across in this sector.”

“Mobile is transforming global fitness and nutrition by bringing healthier lifestyle choices to a wider audience,” Michael Treskow, partner at Eight Roads Ventures, said. “8fit has built a unique product to support people’s individual fitness goals via a personalized program, and we look forward to partnering with the team on its journey.”

8fit is headquartered in Berlin, with more than 50 full time employees worldwide.
