5.11 Tactical announced the promotion of Bryan Jones to chief financial officer, effective October 7, 2024. On that date, the current CFO, Jim McGinty, will phase into retirement while remaining involved in the company for the balance of 2024, taking on a consultatory role for 2025 with a planned exit by the start of 2026.

McGinty has led 5.11’s finance team for the past six years and has played an integral part in the company’s growth trajectory.

“During his tenure, Jim developed the financial discipline to make us more profitable. Under his leadership, 5.11 has grown significantly, adding stores to over 120 domestic locations. Jim was also crucial in creating a culture of transparency within 5.11, ensuring timely and accurate communication of results to the 5.11 and Compass teams,” said Troy Brown, CEO. “Although Jim has decided to retire, we are fortunate to have him remain with 5.11 in a consultatory capacity through 2025 to ensure a smooth transition. I thank Jim for his contributions and congratulate him on his upcoming retirement.”

In his new role as CFO, Jones will focus on strategy, managing risk, fulfilling revenue, and profit targets. Previous finance roles for Jones include working at Johnson & Johnson, Volcom and Deloitte, leading global teams in financial planning and analysis, accounting and financial reporting.

Jones received a BS in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MBA from the Paul Merage School of Business, University of California, Irvine. He will report to Troy Brown, CEO, and be a member of the company’s leadership team.

“Over the last nine years, Bryan’s commitment and dedication to 5.11 has been critical to our success as demonstrated by our growth and profitability”, said Brown. “Bryan has proven to be an essential part of our management team, positively impacting our financial and strategic execution. Bryan is a transformational leader with a growth mindset who is often sought out for partnership by his peers as well as others throughout the organization.”
