’47, a partner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 1983, announced an expansion of its licensing agreement with the league, beginning with the 2017-2018 NBA season. The agreement grants the brand rights to use current NBA team logos on adult apparel as well as men’s, women’s and youth headwear. ’47 will also create product for the league’s key seasonal moments including NBA All-Star, NBA Playoffs and NBA Finals.

“We recognize the significance of the NBA business from both a cultural perspective and as one of the premier sports leagues,” said ’47 co-owner Steven D’Angleo. “We’re looking forward to growing our presence with NBA fans and with our long-time partners at the league.”

’47 plans to leverage its expanded apparel offerings and leadership in the curved headwear market to capture a unique segment of the league’s audience. Key distribution channels for new product include Dick’s Sporting Goods, LIDS and Academy Sports.

Additionally, ’47 is investing in team relationships, having already secured partnerships with the Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks.

The global sports lifestyle brand will also have international rights in key territories including Canada, Mexico, Japan and Australia.
