Adidas AG reported that Martin Shankland plans to step down as head of global operations and leave the company after 27 years with the brand. Shankland is also an Executive Board member and will officially step down on August 10.

Thomas Rabe, chairman of Adidas AG’s Supervisory Board, thanked Shankland for his many years of service with the company, stating, “On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I would like to congratulate Martin on his career at our company and thank him for his passion, commitment, and leadership throughout the past 27 years. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors.”

Shankland joined Adidas Russia/CIS in 1997. As managing director, he established Adidas Russia/CIS’s direct-to-consumer business. After leading Adidas’ emerging markets region from 2017, Shankland joined the company’s Executive Board in 2019, responsible for product operations, sourcing and supply chain, tech, data and analytics, non-trade-procurement and sustainability. During this period, Shankland reportedly “led transformational initiatives, including creating a more responsive, transparent and sustainable supply chain and built a more tech and data-capable organization aided by in-sourcing tech talent into a network of global tech hubs.”

Hoa Ly, SVP of sourcing, will be responsible for all sourcing operations at Adidas and report to Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden. Adidas CFO Harm Ohlmeyer will assume additional responsibility for Adidas’ supply chain and tech.

As of August 11, 2024, the company’s new Executive Board will consist of Bjørn Gulden (CEO, Global Brands), Arthur Hoeld (Global Sales), Harm Ohlmeyer (CFO) and Michelle Robertson (Global HR, People and Culture).
