Trek Bicycle Corporation has purchased 21 Orlando, FL-based stores, which make up David’s World Cycle group.
David’s World Cycle has been a preferred retailer for Trek.
“When thinking about finding the right partner to carry that legacy on for the next 30 years, we wanted to work with people who shared our long-term vision, would provide incredible hospitality for our customers and invest in making your local riding experience even better,” owners David and Yvette Sanborn wrote in an e-mail to customers obtained by the Orlando Business Journal. “Florida is blessed with an amazing and growing cycling community, and we are confident Trek will continue to serve and support our communities in even bigger and better ways.”
The stores will start the transition to Trek Bicycle in May with new hours and eventually new store names. The company will retain existing employees, continue to provide maintenance on non-Trek bicycles, and old gift cards will be honored.
According to Bicycle Retailer, Trek, since the start of 2021, has acquired at least 40 shops, typically through the acquisition of multi-location businesses, prior to the David’s World Cycle’s purchase.
