Under Armour, Inc. must submit documents related to the federal government’s investigation into its accounting practices which led to a $9 million fine last year, a Los Angeles judge overseeing the litigation over its canceled UCLA contract has ruled, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
Judge H. Jay Ford, III in the Los Angeles Superior Court said in a February 15 ruling that UCLA’s requests for the documents from Under Armour through discovery “clearly seek relevant information” pertinent to its case against Under Armour. UCLA sued Under Armour in 2020 after it prematurely terminated a 15-year, $280 million sponsorship deal earlier that year.
Under Armour claims the COVID-19 pandemic “upended” the deal. UCLA argues Under Armour used the pandemic as a pretext to pull out of its agreement.
