Zumiez Inc. reported September sales increased 12.5 percent to $66.3 million with comps jumped 6.6 percent. In September 2013, comps decreased 0.6 percent.

On its sales call for analysts, Zumiez said the comp increase was driven by an increase in comparable transactions and an increase in dollars per transaction. Dollars per transaction were up for the five-week period due to an increase in units per transaction and an increase in average unit retail.

Among categories, hard goods, men’s, juniors, and accessories posted positive comp, while footwear and boys posted negative comps.

Quarter-to-date comparable sales increased 3.9 percent and its year-to-date comparable sales increased 3.0 percent.

Excluding the shift in timing of an annual snow expo event in Europe that moved out of November and into September, comps increased 5.8 percent for September, 3.6 percent quarter to date, and 2.9 percent for the year-to-date period.
