Zumiez Inc., a retailer of apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories for young men and women, on Wednesday announced that total net sales for the five-week period ended January 5, 2019, increased 2.9 percent to $164.6 million, compared to $160 million for the five-week period ended December 30, 2017.

The company’s comparable sales increased 4.9 percent for the five-week period ended January 5, 2019, compared to a comparable sales increase of 7.9 percent for the five-week period ended December 30, 2017.

Based primarily on stronger than expected quarter-to-date sales, the company is increasing guidance and now expects fiscal 2018 fourth quarter comparable sales growth of approximately 3 percent, and earnings per share between $1.08 and $1.10.  This compares to the previous guidance for comparable sales growth between 0 percent and 2 percent, and earnings per share between $1.02 and $1.08.
