Zappos Fulfillment Centers, Inc., a subsidiary of Zappos.com, Inc.,  received SHARP certification from Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). The company previously obtained SHARP certification in 2009.

Zappos said the US Department of Labor created the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) to encourage and recognize excellence in occupational safety and health among small to mid-sized employers. Zappos employs approximately 2,700 workers and handles all distribution for the online retailer-from apparel to footwear. All Zappos employees embrace the company’s ten core values, which include delivering WOW through service.

In order to receive SHARP certification, Zappos underwent a thorough assessment by Kentucky OSH consultants. The evaluation included ensuring that Zappos' illness and injury rates fell below the national averages, as well as confirming the company exceeded OSHA standards for workplace health and safety. Although companies must meet federal standards for the program, the Kentucky Labor Cabinet presents the award because the state has had its own federally approved Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program for over 20 years.

Zappos Fulfillment Centers, Inc. was presented with a plaque acknowledging their SHARP recertification from KY OSH officials in a ceremony by Commissioner of Workplace Standards, Michael Dixon on April 4, 2012. The Shepherdsville, KY distribution facility is the 17th active SHARP's company in Kentucky. SHARP recertification is good for two years and then, can be renewed. A company is exempted from scheduled KYOSH compliance inspections during the certification period.
