Yakima, together with its longtime partners Leave No Trace, International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) and Subaru, has launched #sharethetrail, an online photo contest. Aimed to promote outdoor stewardship, it will feature crowd-sourced images of people taking care of the trails they use and love.

The contest runs through May 15, and the winning submission – as chosen by Yakima and its partners – will receive a trip for two to Mountain Bike Oregon Summer 2015, plus a new Yakima rack system.

“We all share the trail with someone, from our friends to our kids to our dogs, and we’re grateful to everyone sharing the work to keep the great outdoors in better shape than they found it,” said Summer Henderson, Brand Director at Yakima. “#sharethetrail lets us shine a light on these trail heroes, plus promote the Leave No Trace 7 Principles of outdoor ethics.”

Yakima, Leave No Trace, IMBA and Subaru are all committed to preserving the outdoors and have come together in other education and stewardship programs. Yakima and Suburu have partnered with Leave No Trace for the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainer program, which consists of four teams of two educators that travel across the country in Subarus outfitted with Yakima products, teaching people how to protect and enjoy the outdoors responsibly. In 2015 alone, the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will reach 15 million Americans. Yakima is also the official car rack sponsor for the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew. On the road since 1997, this is IMBA's grassroots educational program. Featuring a traveling team of two as well as eight regional members, the program offers everything from sustainable trail building schools to high-level land manager training and organizational support for chapters and clubs.

“We’re excited to show off the work of those who are doing what it takes – from educating others about how to safely play in the outdoors to hands-on trail maintenance – to care for our lands,” said Dean Ronzoni of Leave No Trace. “#sharethetrail and share the love for our planet.”
