With Little League Baseball's moratorium on the use of composite bats in all baseball divisions creating controversy and confusion with consumers, Worth Sports is taking measures to assure parents of young players that their Worth bats are approved for play in 2011.

“For years, Worth has been known in the baseball industry for its high-performance aluminum bats,” said Tim Lord, vice president of bats for St. Louis-based Worth Sports, a subsidiary of Jarden Team Sports.  “Now with the composite moratorium in place, parents and young players need to find aluminum barrels that fit their style of play, and Worth has 70 bats licensed for the upcoming Little League season.”

Many of Worth's aluminum barrels, including its popular Lithium Toxic baseball bat, are ultra-lightweight at a -13 drop and meet the 1.15 BPF standard.  A new model, the YBTP13, scored favorably with young players during offseason test sessions.

“Consumers should keep in mind that Little League regulations apply to 2 1/4″ and 2 5/8″ barrels only, and does not apply to big-barrel 2 3/4″ bats,” said Lord.  “The new 2 3/4-barred Lithium Prodigy (SLP102), based on the widely-popular series, remains approved by associations that do allow big barrel bats and will be available for purchase very soon.”

Both team and retail accounts will see an increase in aluminum youth baseball bat sales in 2011 due to the recent Little League composite bat moratorium.  For example, Worth's Toxic aluminum youth baseball bat pictured below can be found right now in major retail stores such as Hibbett Sports, Modell's Sporting Goods and Dunham's, and catalog and team dealer accounts across the country.
