Woolrich announced the sponsorship of the Bank of the West Soldier Hollow Classic in  Heber City, Utah from September 4 – 7, 2009. In what has quickly become the foremost sheepdog trial in the world, national champions from South Africa, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Canada and the United States will compete in front of more than 20,000 spectators. The competition highlights the unique collaboration between human and canine through the use of voice commands and whistles to instruct Border Collies to locate, gather and direct sheep through a series of gates.

Like Woolrich, this event has deep roots in America's sheep culture. Although Woolrich manufactures a host of cotton and synthetic garments today, it continues to recognize the unique value of wool as a superior natural fiber. The event celebrates this culture not only through the competition on the hillside but also through fiber events and activities.

As part of its sponsorship, Woolrich will outfit each official with a Grand Peak Vest. This extreme performance vest features TechnoWool X, a natural fabric that provides wind protection and superior core insulation for strenuous outdoor activities.

“The Soldier Hollow Classic creates a unique linkage to wool as a natural performance fiber and illustrates our rich heritage of producing high-quality outdoor apparel,” said Keith Myers, national sales manager for Woolrich. “We are proud to be a part of this amazing event as it is truly a unique fit for Woolrich.”
