Women’s Health, a women’s health and wellness magazine, and Yelp, a website and mobile app that connects people with local businesses, today revealed America’s “Wellthiest” Cities based on a six-month, research-based partnership to determine 15 of the best cities for overall wellness across the United States.

These results can be found here and in the July/August issue of Women’s Health.

Top 15 Wellthiest Cities include:

  • Albuquerque, NM
  • Anchorage, AK
  • Austin, TX
  • Berkeley, CA
  • Boulder, CO
  • Durham, NC
  • Henderson, NV
  • Milwaukee, WI
  • Newton, MA
  • Overland Park, KS
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Portland, OR
  • Sioux Falls, SD
  • St. Petersburg, FL
  • Virginia Beach, VA

To determine the winners, Yelp data scientists parsed how many healthy-lifestyle businesses and amenities U.S. cities offered in relation to their population size, then looked at how often people used or searched for those businesses, and how highly they were rated. Once the numbers were crunched, Women’s Health interviewed Yelp’s local experts and residents about their town’s buzziest wellness trends and recommendations.

The resulting cities offer the best overall quality-of-life options for wellness: restaurants with farm-fresh food, landscapes that energize and calm, plenty of options for outdoor recreation, easy access to doctors, and endless ways to stay social. Featured cities and businesses are invited to display a Women’s Health and Yelp co-branded seal to showcase their achievement as one of America’s Wellthiest Cities.

To celebrate the partnership, Women’s Health and Yelp are hosting events across the country- ranging from spin classes to heated yoga to taco tastings.
