Street League Skateboarding (SLS) announced that the coming SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship – the official street skateboarding world championship as recognized by the International Skateboarding Federation (ISF) – will, for the second year in a row, include a women’s division bringing together the world’s best female street skateboarders to compete for the title of World Champion.

The eight selected skateboarders will not only compete in front of an anticipated sold-out crowd at the Galen Center at USC in Los Angeles for the ultimate title, they will be competing for the year’s highest first-place prize in women’s street skateboarding – a $30,000 purse and a Championship G-Shock Watch.

2015 marked the inaugural Women’s contest in SLS where Nike SB pro from Brazil, Leticia Bufoni, broke through with her final Best Trick to roll away in first place just ahead of Vanessa Torres and Alana Smith to take home the largest prize purse in 2015 women’s skateboarding. This first-ever contest not only opened the competitive aspect of SLS up to all the world’s best street skateboarders, but also further solidified the competition framework for skateboarding. With the fast paced growth of skateboarding, an accurately defined and credible pathway for both male and female competitive skateboarders around the world to achieve World Championship status is imperative. SLS continues to grow and evolve skateboarding by bringing together the best of the best under one roof to further establish the natural steps for the League’s progression and SLS’s work to grow skateboarding globally.

Since 2015, the pool of potential invited female skaters has grown rapidly; with untapped talent emerging from around the world including Japan, Europe, South America, and Australia, with a massive field of up-and-comers here in the United States to make the selection process that much more difficult. With only eight elite spots to fill, the Women’s Championship line-up is highly competitive, but must remain concise for the competition format.

Curated in conjunction with the Women’s Skateboarding Alliance (WSA), the skaters selected for their professional performance throughout the past year and contributions to street skateboarding as a whole, the following skaters will compete for the title of SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Champion: Lacey Baker, Pamela Rosa, Mariah Duran, Alexis Sablone, Vanessa Torres, Alana Smith, Monica Torres, and reigning Super Crown World Champion, Leticia Bufoni.

For the second time in history, the world’s most accomplished female skateboarders will compete in the true street skateboarding contest that defines the only World Champion as recognized by the ISF. The Women’s Division at the SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship in Los Angeles, CA will be webcast live around the world on StreetLeague.com on October 2nd starting at 8:20 PM ET. Following the women’s contest, the Top Eight male Pros for this year’s SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship will take the course. Having been determined through their outstanding performances throughout the SLS season, which included gaining Championship Points from a set of two ISF-sanctioned qualifier events and two SLS Nike SB World Tour contests, the top SLS Pros competing for World Champion are: Shane O’Neill, Paul Rodriguez, Nyjah Huston, Tom Asta, Luan Oliveira, Cody McEntire, Ryan Decenzo, and SLS Pick, Chris Joslin.
