Wilson will open its second store at 594 Broadway in the SOHO district of Manhattan. Its first store opened last July in Chicago.

The 6,400-square-foot flagship location in New York City, which opens January 21, features an atrium space named the Thomas E. Wilson Indoor Park in honor of the brand’s founder. In the space, customers shoot hoops, test racquets by hitting balls against an indoor wall, or other equipment, intended to encourage play.

In an interview with WWD, Wilson’s president Gordon Devin said, creating such a playful retail environment felt intuitive, “given that we are who we are. We’re a brand that has always been about sports, and to create a traditional retail store wouldn’t feel intuitive.”

The store will carry baseball/softball, tennis, basketball, football, golf, and its lifestyle sportswear collection. Leather ball customization, a golf simulator and glove personalization will also be available.

New York City artist Greg Lamarche created a graffiti mural commemorating Wilson’s heritage and pays homage to New York City.

Wilson is reportedly looking to open more locations in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles.
