Just a month after Pharrell Williams filed a breach-of-contract suit against Reebok International Ltd. related to their footwear and apparel licensing deal, the two have announced that they are terminating that relationship. The original suit filed by Wiliams on December 17, 2004 sought $4 million in damages, alleging that the company violated their contract by failing to meet distribution and quality standards for his footwear and apparel.

In December 2003, Pharrell and Reebok announced the launch of a collection of men’s and women’s “Ice Cream” footwear and “Billionaire Boys Club” apparel to be developed and marketed under the brand’s Rbk initiative.

The complaint alleged that Reebok personnel told BBC that Reebok could not produce product that met BBC’s approval “in a manner consistent with the design and quality standards and specifications required by BBC.” The suit also stated that Reebok failed to ship clothing by a June 1, 2004 deadline.

As part of the termination deal, the original suit will reportedly be dropped and Reebok will continue to sell “Ice Cream” footwear at retail through June 30, 2005. Pharrell Williams is expected to announce shortly future plans for a “Billionaire Boys Club” apparel line and the continued production of “Ice Cream” footwear.

Further details of the dissolution of the partnership were not publicly disclosed.
