Whoop has named Kristen Moss as its first chief communications officer, a newly created role that “reflects the company’s continued growth and increasing global visibility.” Moss will lead global communications, “helping to elevate the company’s brand and reputation as it continues to scale and expand its impact on human performance and health.”
Most recently, Moss served as VP of Strategic Communications for North America at The Coca-Cola Company, where she helped shape communications across one of the company’s largest markets. Previously, she was head of Global Corporate Communications for Reebok, within the Adidas organization, where she reportedly “led communications for the brand’s $2.5 billion sale to Authentic Brands Group.” Earlier in her career, she held communications and marketing roles at Liberty Mutual, MediaVest, Condé Nast, FTI Consulting, and Polo Ralph Lauren.
“The Whoop mission is deeply personal to me,” said Moss. “Health is the foundation for how we show up in every part of our lives, and Whoop gives people the insight to make more informed decisions about their health every day. The company has earned extraordinary trust with elite athletes, and its potential reaches far beyond sport. I’m excited to join Whoop and help tell that bigger story – one that inspires more people to unlock their potential through a better understanding of their own health.”
In a LinkedIn post dated July 14, Moss said she hit pause a few month ago after years leading communications at some incredible companies.
“I wanted to be intentional about what came next,” she said. Heer post went on to thank her new boss and those who supported her in her journey. She wrote:
“I’ve always believed the strongest brands aren’t built by what they say, but by what people BELIEVE about them and the emotional connection we have with these brands. WHOOP is helping redefine how people understand their health—not only by giving them data, but by inspiring them to take control of their health every day. And the opportunity to build the company’s first communications function that matches the company’s ambition, at such a pivotal moment in its journey, was one I couldn’t pass up. From the beginning, what stood out to me wasn’t just the technology. It was the company’s ambition.
I’m grateful to Will Ahmed, the leadership team and everyone I’ve met throughout this process for the trust they’ve placed in me. I look forward to partnering with this talented team to build a brand rooted in sport, trusted in health, and inspiring people to reach their potential and feel their best.
To the many friends, mentors and colleagues who reached out over the past several months—with encouragement, introductions, advice and more coffee chats than I can count—thank you. Your support meant more than you know.
I’m excited for this next chapter. Let’s get to work!”
The company said Moss joins Whoop at a time of “significant momentum.” The company boasts “over three million members worldwide.” Her addition comes on the heels of Whoop’s hiring Nike’s former global chief marketing officer, Dirk-Jan van Hameren, as chief marketing officer. Hameren was at Nike for 32 years, rising to the role of global chief marketing officer. He is also a two-time Olympian.
The next chapter of Whoop isn’t just about growing our business but about sharing a story that inspires millions of people to take control of their health,” said company Founder and CEO Will Ahmed. “Kristen is an exceptional communicator and a hands-on leader, and we’re excited for her to help shape how the world understands Whoop.”
The company also notes that “Moss is a lifelong fitness enthusiast, a three-time New York City Marathon finisher and has completed more than 15 half marathons.”
