Whoop named Kyle Leahy, formerly CEO of beauty brand Glossier, as its first chief commercial officer, overseeing global wholesale and retail, partnerships, enterprise, and healthcare go-to-market strategy.
Leahy’s appointment comes as the membership-based wearable fitness and health tracker “expands with retailers and e-commerce marketplaces, grows its enterprise business and builds relationships across healthcare in the United States and internationally.”
As CEO of Glossier, Leahy “led the company’s transformation from a direct-to-consumer business into a global omnichannel company, including its launch in Sephora, and brought the business to profitability.” Previously, she spent nearly a decade at Cole Haan, “leading its $1 billion North America business and driving significant growth across e-commerce, retail and wholesale.” She serves on the board of L.L. Bean.
Whoop reported it recently surpassed “three million members worldwide, with international membership growing more than 11-fold since January 2023.” The company also reports it is “now available in 56 countries, with growth accelerating across direct-to-consumer and third-party channels.” Last year, the Whoop wholesale business “grew more than 150 percent year-over-year for the third consecutive year.”
“Whoop is scaling rapidly across international markets and new channels,” said Will Ahmed, founder and CEO of Whoop. “Kyle has a proven track record of leading strong brands through rapid growth. She knows how to expand premium distribution and build the right partnerships without losing what makes a brand special. That experience will be critical as we bring Whoop to more people around the world.”
“I’ve spent my career building brands that have a deep emotional and cultural connection with consumers, and Whoop is one of those rare generational brands,” said Leahy. “Whoop represents human potential, whether you are an elite athlete working to perform at your best, an 80-year-old managing AFib or a young mom trying to live the best version of her life. That range is incredibly powerful and gives Whoop significant room to grow.”
