In a statement made by Jim Clark, CEO of WaterMark, the company announced it will relocate some of its business functions to Portland, Oregon, beginning in early 2005. The company will maintain a portion of its operations in Arcata, and has renewed the lease on its Arcata facility.

“As part of a long-term planning process, we identified several key steps required to support growth, to maintain a leadership position and to stay competitive,” said Clark. “One of those steps was to move certain functions to a new location with access to a major transportation hub and with a large labor pool from which to draw the employees needed to reach our growth goals. Portland, with many large companies and a significant number of outdoor industry businesses, meets our criteria.”

“We will maintain a portion of our operations in Arcata, rather than move them to Oregon, because they are working well here and it makes sense to keep them here,” he continued. “We look forward to maintaining our excellent relations with the Arcata community.”
