Crystal Mountain Resort in Washington is reporting a record snowfall thanks to seven inches of snow that accumulated last week. The previous record set during the 1998/1999 season was 596. As of Friday, May 27th, Crystal Mountain Resort had received 600 of snowfall.

The resort, located roughly two hours southeast of Seattle, now expects to remain open well into June and possibly July. March was the snowiest month this season with 134 inches of snowfall, second was December with 110 inches and April was the third snowiest with 91 inches.

We have La Nina to thank for this banner snow year, said Tiana Enger, Marketing Director at Crystal Mountain Resort. Fortunately for skiers they can still take advantage of all this snow. We plan to remain open for skiing until this snow melts, which could be sometime in July.

This summer also marks the first time Crystal Mountain Resort is fully accessible because of the addition of the Mt. Rainier Gondola, which becomes operational June 17. The gondola travels to the resorts 6,872-foot peak and the state’s highest restaurant with views of Mt. Ranier. When the snow does melt, the resorts summer activities,  such as hiking and biking, disc golf and horseback riding will be available daily.
