Wagner Custom Skis and Surefoot, an innovator in ski boot fitting, have entered into a partnership which will splice ski boots, fitting and new technologies. The result of this collaboration will provide in-depth analysis of a skier’s strengths and weakness in particular phases of a turn. The newly outfitted demo fleet will be in select Surefoot stores starting in Fall 2010.

In the past, the only way to get a pair of Wagner’s skis underfoot was to go through the “Skier DNA” process and wait until they were constructed for the individual client. This new approach allows an even greater degree of customization by utilizing a brand new technology that is exclusively available through this partnership.

Much like a computer mouse, the demo fleet will be using Optical Navigation Technology that is found in the vLink™ System by Advanced Racing Computers of Park City, Utah. With a small transmitter mounted on the ski, in-depth data is transmitted wirelessly to a wearable receiver or available for analysis later for download. Originally developed for ski racers, the system analyzes speed, distance and slippage at 6500 frames per second.

“Using the vLink™ will enable us to further dial-in a client’s particular needs and tendencies in a custom ski,” Wagner commented from his Placerville, CO factory, “We are so stoked have another weapon in our arsenal to provide the greatest possible level of fit for our clients…it is really ground-breaking technology.” Once the Skier DNA profile and vLink ™data have been analyzed, it will be run through the proprietary software created by Wagner and used to build the specific design.

Attributing the demo fleet concept to the discovery of this new technology through Surefoot, Wagner went on to say,” The chance to partner with Surefoot was exciting in itself, but moving out in front with a cutting edge technology is why I started this business in the first place.”

Surefoot co-founder Bob Shay said, “We are truly thrilled to work with someone as forward-thinking as Pete. The vLink technology is destined to make skiing more fun for people and help our consumers get into the right ski to take them to the next level.”

Wagner Custom Skis will be available at select Surefoot stores starting this season with a premiere at the Surefoot in Deer Valley, Utah.
