Veltec Sports has completed its acquisition of the women’s clothing company, Shebeest. The Shebeest purchase was first announced during the Interbike tradeshow and was finalized Friday.

Shebeest was founded in 1997 by designer Claudia Ried as a by-women-for-women clothing company which quickly grew its sales to include more than 700 independent retailers in the USA and Canada.

Under terms of the acquisition, Claudia will remain as head of the Shebeest design center in Santa Ana, CA.

Shebeest will be distributed by Veltec in Europe as well as North America. In addition Claudia will undertake other design opportunities for Veltec’s European clothing line, Ultima.

According to Veltec, the basics of the arrangement are simple. “Veltec gets a proven apparel brand to supplement its growing women’s product line. Shebeest gets the capitalization, marketing, and distribution horsepower to take the Shebeest brand to the next level.”
