The U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal concerning whether Ugg boots imported by Deckers Outdoor Corp. should be subject to lower duties. The Court declined Decker's request to probe whether the Federal Circuit erred in deferring to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s footwear definitions.

According to law360.com, Deckers had argued that Ugg should be classified under the
category for “footwear with outer soles of rubber … and uppers of
textile materials.” That classification is subject to a significantly lower duty of 9 percent.

The Federal Circuit in May 2013 ruled that Customs had correctly
classified the company’s Ugg Classic Crochet boots in the “footwear of
the slip-on type” category, which is subject to duties of 37.5 percent.

The case is Deckers Outdoor Corp. v. U.S., case number 13-803, in the U.S. Supreme Court.
