U.S. imports of camping apparel and gear reached $767 million in October on a seasonally adjusted basis, up 3.4 percent from September, according to trade data released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Such imports reached $7.5 billion for the first ten months of the year, up 4.6 percent.


Seasonally adjusted imports of toys, games and sporting goods, meanwhile, reached $2.75 billion in October, up 0.4 percent from September. Those imports reached $27.8 billion for the first ten months of the year, 0.9 percent ahead of their level in the comparable period of 2011.


The report showed footwear imports reached $1.57 billion in October, down 3.2 percent from September 2011. Footwear imports for the 10 month period increased 3.1 percent to $15.8 billion.
