Unifi, Inc. will officially mark the opening of Unifi Central America, Ltda. DE C.V. (UCA) with a ribbon cutting ceremony to be held on Dec. 2, 2010.  Local and state elected officials of El Salvador will join Unifi executives Bill Jasper, president and CEO, Roger Berrier, executive vice president and Tom Caudle, vice president of manufacturing, for the grand opening celebration of the nearly 120,000 square foot facility. UCA will provide the region with high quality textured and twisted polyester filament yarns for a range of end uses.

“The expansion of Unifi manufacturing operations into Central America will allow the company to better support and service our customers in the region,” said Roger Berrier, executive vice president for Unifi. “This manufacturing operation will provide enhanced regional and global sourcing solutions to our growing customer base.”

“Unifi has a long history of providing customers with global manufacturing excellence,” said Juan Zepeda, general manager of UCA. “UCA will focus on bringing this same manufacturing discipline through exceptional service and high quality yarns.”

The manufacturing plant will have eight texturing machines and 27 twisting machines, increasing Unifi's capacity in this hemisphere. UCA will employ approximately 175 people.  The plant is located at Zona Franca, American Industrial Park, El Salvador. Juan Zepeda serves as general manager and Joey Yates as sales manager of UCA.
