St. John’s University and Under Armour announced a six-year all-sports partnership. Red Storm Athletics first became outfitted with Under Armour gear as its teams began to prepare for competition in 2013-14.

St. John’s is Under Armour’s first all-sports partner in the new BIG EAST Conference. The agreement makes Under Armour the exclusive athletic product supplier of St. John’s University Athletics through 2018-19. The partnership includes marketing and promotional initiatives in St. John’s home market of New York City and across the nation.

“We are very excited to be entering into this agreement with Under Armour at this time. In recent years Under Armour has become a dynamic force in college athletics,” said Chris Monasch, St. John’s Director of Athletics. “The alignment of our brands will be mutually beneficial to St. John's University, our student-athletes and Under Armour.”

“The heritage of St. John’s Athletics runs deep in New York City and across the country and Under Armour is honored to welcome the Red Storm into our roster of collegiate teams,” said Matt Mirchin, Senior Vice President, Brand and Sports Marketing, Under Armour. “The brand looks forward to working with St. John's to bring Red Storm Athletics to the next level in the new BIG EAST Conference, providing them with best-in-class gear for practice and competition.”

“It's clear Under Armour has a long-range vision and approach that in many respects mirrors our own basketball program,” said St. John’s head men's basketball coach Steve Lavin. “The leadership at Under Armour recognizes from a competitive standpoint that the opportunity for growth and success in New York is second to none. St. John’s is located in one of the great cities and entertainment centers of the world – combine that with a winning basketball tradition and one can quickly see why the Johnnies are positioned to succeed at the highest levels. Under Armour is young, innovative and bold, is making strong moves in its industry and relates well to student-athletes. This new agreement is as important to Under Armour as it is to St. John's, making for an ideal partnership.”

“This agreement shows how committed Under Armour is to St. John's University and our athletics program,” remarked Red Storm women’s basketball head coach Joe Tartamella. “Our alignment with Under Armour makes us unique in this area, and in our newly re-built BIG EAST Conference.”

“We are thrilled to be joining forces with Under Armour, a brand that has emerged as a worldwide leader in athletic apparel and footwear,” added Dr. Dave Masur, St. John’s head men’s soccer coach. “There is a lot to be excited about this upcoming season and we look forward to taking the field and competing in the new BIG EAST Conference, while donning the innovative uniforms and footwear that Under Armour has to offer.”

“We're very excited about our new partnership with Under Armour,” said Taka Bertrand, Red Storm women's tennis coach. “Under Armour has been at the forefront of innovative athletic apparel and has quickly made gains in the tennis world, both collegiately and professionally. I know the equipment will provide us with the best training gear year round.”
