Under Armour Inc. will become the official outfitter of the Northeastern University Huskies beginning with the 2018-19 academic year.

As part of the multi-year agreement, Under Armour will provide on-field and training gear for 18 varsity sports. Additionally, Under Armour will outfit members of the athletic department, including coaches and staff.

“Under Armour is a recognized leader in its field when it comes to product innovation, and we are thrilled to partner with such a premier and cutting-edge brand,” said Jeff Konya, Northeastern’s director of athletics and recreation. “Our student-athletes are committed to excellence, both athletically and academically, and representing Northeastern with distinction. This relationship shows a commitment to outfitting them with the best apparel, shoes and equipment across the board to help them succeed at the highest level.”

The new official outfitter agreement includes marketing entitlement that will complement Under Armour’s brand marketing campaigns through print and venue presence at the University.

The agreement with Under Armour comes during a time of athletic success across Northeastern’s varsity teams. The men’s basketball team won a share of the CAA regular season title for the third time in the last six seasons and advanced to the conference championship game, while men’s ice hockey captured the program’s first Beanpot championship in 30 years and entered the conference playoffs as the No. 2 seed looking to advance to the NCAA tournament for the second time in three seasons.

Northeastern’s women’s hockey team, meanwhile, captured their first conference tournament title in program history and reached the NCAA tournament for the second time in three years. The women’s rowing team has dominated CAA competition over the last decade, winning four straight league crowns and reaching the NCAA championships each of those seasons, while women’s soccer has made NCAA appearances in three of the last five seasons.

Northeastern joins the growing Under Armour roster of NCAA partners that includes: the University of California, Los Angeles; University of California, Berkeley; University of Wisconsin; University of Notre Dame; Naval Academy Athletic Association; University of Maryland; Texas Tech University; Northwestern University; University of Cincinnati; Boston College; University of Utah; University of South Carolina and Auburn University.
