Ugg has partnered with Pendleton Woolen Mills on a limited edition collection for for Fall/Winter 2014. The range includes three men’s and four women’s footwear silhouettes and one women’s handbag, combining iconic Ugg silhouettes with Pendleton jacquard fabric.

“Finding two brands with such deep ties to a shared heritage is special,” says Ugg president Connie Rishwain. “Both brands deep-rooted history and respect for quality has created a dynamic collaboration.”

For Ugg, the story began in 1978 on the shores of Southern California. The beaches of SoCal became the epicenter of a unique casual lifestyle, and Ugg sheepskin boots were an immediate sensation that kept surfers warm after riding waves. Pendleton also played a significant part in American surf culture two decades earlier. In the late 1950s, California surfers wore trunks and Pendleton shirts, which established the look of the California surfer. More important than the brands shared histories, they share an unprecedented commitment to quality and craftsmanship, providing a solid foundation for this partnership.

The limited edition collection from Sports Authority will host grand reopening events for its redesigned and new stores in the Western Washington area on Saturday, Nov. 8. It also announced grand opening events for new and improved stores in the Las Vegas area on the same date. and Pendleton includes individually numbered styles that fuse Ugg Australia’s classic aesthetic with Pendleton’s Coyote Butte pattern. The signature pattern is inspired by the tepee-shaped rock formations of Coyote Buttes, a region in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness of Utah and Arizona. The Coyote Butte pattern incorporates the majestic colors of the Jurassic Navajo Sandstone rock formations that are colored fantastical hues of red, orange, purple, and pink by iron-rich groundwater. The design also incorporates traditional Native American geometrics, such as the universal “Greek key” pattern that illustrates the balance in nature, and triangles that reflect the shapes of the buttes.

Ugg and Pendleton pieces range in price from $120-$175 and will be sold at Pendleton Stores, in the Pendleton catalogue, at US and Asia Ugg Australia concept stores and on UggAustralia.com.
