Twins Enterprise is shifting directions to show off the brands heritage and the unique story of how the company has come to be a major player in the sports licensed products market. Twins Enterprises is launching new brand platforms for its two main businesses. Twins Headwear will now be known as Twins '47 and Banner Supply Company, the apparel business that was acquired by Twins in 2005 will now be known as Banner '47.

The story of Twins enterprises started with a souvenir pennant.  When twin brothers Arthur and Henry D’Angelo emigrated to the US from Italy they never would have imagined that selling flowers, shining shoes and selling newspapers on the streets of Boston would lead to a 60 year venture into sports licensed products.

In 1947, the Twins cut their own pennants out of felt and screen-printed them with the logo of their beloved home town team, the Boston Red Sox.  Through the years, the young men began to sell pennants and other sports souvenirs to baseball stadiums around the country.  Their entrepreneurial spirit, a “handshake is a contract” way of doing business and their love of sports has flourished into a national business producing some of the industry’s finest headwear and apparel.  Today, the company boasts a portfolio of national licenses with MLB, NHL, NBA and over 400 college programs.  Twins is also an official licensee of U.S. Open Tennis and is the Official Headwear Supplier of the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute supporting all of DFCI’s charitable foundation events.

“Today we proudly recognize the hard work and passionate spirit of my father and uncle over 60 years ago,” said Steven D’Angelo, vice president and second generation company co-owner.  “We’re energized as a brand despite the dour economic situation, we are taking a proactive position to grow our business in 2009 and years to come,” said D’Angelo.

The new brand platform harkens back to the origins of the company.  “The goal was to create a fresh brand look that utilized an authentic foundation for us to direct all brand related programs,” said Steve David, director of marketing & communications.  “The look and feel of our new pennant logo and incorporation of the year 1947 set the right tone to create an emotional attachment with consumers,” said David.  In 2008, Twins opened the company’s flagship retail store in Boston named ’47 and today unveils its new website at nineteen47.com designed in collaboration with Boston based web agency One Pica.  Apparel brand, Banner Supply Company was acquired by Twins in 2005 and will become Banner ’47.

’47 is a privately owned maker of sports licensed headwear and apparel based in Boston and Dedham, MA and employs 200 corporate and retail employees.
