Tubbs Snowshoe Company and American Hiking Society announced a partnership aimed at maintaining and conserving trail access for hikers and snowshoers and promoting Tubbs TrailNet, a comprehensive online trails directory for snowshoe hikes and walks.

The two entities share a mutual interest in promoting hiking year round, and protecting and preserving footpaths and the natural areas that surround them for future generations. Through its nationwide network, the Alliance of Hiking Organizations, American Hiking Society represents approximately a half-million outdoor enthusiasts, all of whom maintain foot paths, conserve trail lands, and promote the hiking experience all year round. Consumer programs, promotions and advertising will support the partnership for 2006, outreaching nationally to American Hiking’s Alliance and individual members as well as communicating the value of American Hiking membership to snowshoers.

“A partnership with American Hiking Society embodies what Tubbs values the most; the love of the outdoors, a commitment to our community of snowshoers and giving back to that community,” said Kathy Murphy, Tubbs General Manager. “For Tubbs, 2006 marks a century of exploration and leadership. Teaming up with American Hiking Society will complement our efforts to reach the hiking community and expose them to snowshoeing as a way to enjoy their hiking in winter.”

“American Hiking Society is delighted to partner with an industry pioneer like Tubbs to celebrate its 100 year anniversary consumer outreach program,” said Dr. Gregory Miller, President of American Hiking Society. “This year also marks American Hiking’s 30th anniversary, where a key component for mission success is our ability to reach out and activate new hikers, and engage them in their local trails community through outdoor recreation, volunteerism, and advocacy. Promoting snowshoeing as a means to enjoy hiking year-round is directly inline with our strategic direction.”
