Trek Bicycle said that 700 Trek retailers have joined Trek's advocacy program as Game Changers, which means they will generously match the parent company’s $10 donation to IMBA's Trail Building Fund on every full-suspension bike sale. Trek has donated $10 on every such sales since 2007.

Trek and IMBA's retailer engagement program will create more mountain bike opportunities near retailers and population centers. Under the program, Trek Game Changer retailers are encouraged to connect with IMBA regional staff and chapters to identify state and regional priorities to enhance and expand mountain biking opportunities.

“Working in partnership with IMBA makes perfect sense-we are going to build a more mountain bike-friendly America at the local level, where we all can have greater impact on state and regional trail systems,” said Brandon Buth, Trek's advocacy manager. “We are excited to see such strong retailer involvement and connect them to IMBA and its large network of chapters and regional staff to help put more trails and bike parks on the ground and get more people into the sport.”

IMBA's team of regional directors and trail consultants has been active with numerous Trek retailers from coast to coast. Projects include:
•Pocahontas State Park Planning and Design, Richmond, VA
•Aska Trail System Design, Blue Ridge, GA
•Cottage Grove Bike Park, Cottage Grove, MN
•Kerruish Bike Park Planning, Cleveland, OH
•Gateway Green Bike Park Design, Portland, OR
•Wausau Area MTB Trails Master Plan, Wausau, WI
•Cherokee Bluffs Design and Planning, Gainseville, GA

An outstanding example of Trek's support, and the leverage it helps create, is the Coldwater Mountain project in Anniston, AL. An initial $10,000 Trail Building Fund investment has resulted in over $750,000 in state-led investments, utilizing the Recreational Trails Program of the Federal Highway Administration. IMBA has utilized Trail Building Funds to provide technical assistance, planning and construction on 107 similar start-up projects to date because of Trek’s TBF assistance.
