Total Hockey has acquired Denver-based Players Bench in a deal that will add eight stores in Colorado, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin and Ohio.

Total Hockey, which is based in Maryland Heights, MO, already has 24 stores in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Washington D.C

The eight Players Bench stores will be renamed TH/Total Lacrosse. It’s the first acquisition for Total Hockey since it was founded by Michael Benoit, the company’s president and CEO, in 1999, according to St. Louis Business Journal.

Benoit expects the acquisition will add 200 employees to Total Hockey’s headcount, which now stands at about 600. The deal will also add $12 million in revenue to Total Hockey’s $58 million revenue level for 2014. Total Hockey, which does 30 percent of its sales online, is expected to particularly aid online growth for Players Bench.

The announcement was made in a Youtube video here.

Total Hockey is the exclusive ice hockey equipment retailer of USA Hockey.
