InnoVision Headwear, Inc. (IV Headwear) has negotiated an exclusive, multi-year license to use a specially designed Boa Technology fitting system in headwear. The two companies jointly developed Caps_Lock, a proprietary, patent pending application of Boa’s technology.  Toronto-based IV Headwear has begun marketing the technology to brands across North America who already use the company to make their headwear. Retailers could see product debut at the Outdoor Retailer show this summer for the 2009 spring and summer season, said Ian Cole VP of sales and marketing at IV Headwear.

“Our vision is to keep bringing innovation to a market that is fairly mature,” Cole said. “In headwear, there has not been a lot of excitement for a number of years.”

It took IV Headwear and Boa about a year to come up with prototypes. Cole is focusing on extreme sports accounts first, but sees the technology flowing into everything from golf caps to snow hats.

“The appealing part for retailers is there are less SKUs,” Cole told The B.O.S.S. Report. “At this point, we can fit 99% of human heads sizes with two sizes.”
