The North Face has hired Joe Flannery as the company’s new vice president, marketing. Flannery brings to The North Face over 15 years of industry-related experience and a background in consumer products marketing. Immediately out of college, he helped found an in-line skate company which soon sold to Bauer / Nike. Flannery then joined Bauer / Nike and held various progressive marketing positions. In 1996, Flannery was hired by adidas and held positions in product development, business development, account management, and marketing communications.

His brand and product marketing experience ranges from in-line skating to cross-training and running, to collaborations with Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Missy Elliott and Muhammad Ali. Most recently he was responsible for lifestyle footwear and apparel as Global Director of the Sports Heritage Division at adidas. He holds a BS in business administration from Miami University.

“Joe’s background in outdoor sports coupled with his brand marketing experience at a global leader like adidas make for an ideal match with The North Face’s current marketing initiatives,” said Steve Rendle, President, The North Face.

Flannery will report to Steve Rendle, President, The North Face Americas.
