The TJX Companies, Inc. reported February 2003 sales results. Sales for the four-week period ended March 1, 2003 were $776 million, up 3% over $752 million achieved during the four-week period ended March 2, 2002. Consolidated comparable store sales for the four-week period ended March 1, 2003 decreased 5% against last year’s strong 7% increase.

Edmond English, President and Chief Executive Officer of The TJX Companies, Inc. commented, “As we stated last week, February sales were hurt significantly by the very severe weather patterns throughout the month, especially with the Presidents Day weekend storm. That said, we are moving forward in an excellent inventory position, which enables us to take advantage of the many great buys in the marketplace and continue to pass great value on to our customers.”
